in september 2020 i participated in a 2-day workshop on programming and using a Arduino device in conjunction with Pure Data to implement analog sensor technology in digital media. tt took place in an old abandoned factory in Zeitz which is currently transformed into a multimedia space. the workshop was led by Salvador Marino and it was hosted by THIS IS FAKE, a media art collective from Leipzig.
i designed a musical environment in my DAW to utilize the data in various musical ways. I programmed a heartbeat sensor to influence 1.) tempo and 2.) a digital synthesizer whose audio was then sent into an audio feedback system. further an infrared proximity sensor was used to control the feedback system with my hand’s motion. the setup then was demonstrated in one of the old industrial side’s vast and empty spaces.
